Jerker Terwisscha – Founder AxiomGIS

From an early age I had a fascination with maps. While other kids fell asleep on the back seat, I was helping my father navigate with the road atlas on my lap. Long before Google Maps existed.

After a technical education with specialisations in telecommunications and computer science, I found my home in the world of underground infrastructure. From there, my role grew step by step: from engineer to lead engineer to network architect, designing network concepts and integrating them into software and operational workflows.

As a consultant at Speer IT, I work for clients such as KPN, Deutsche Glasfaser and Proximus, translating complex network data into concrete, actionable solutions.

AxiomGIS grew from a desire to give my passion for GIS and spatial analysis its own direction. Over the past years I have developed GIS analyses for various clients that allow network data to be assessed efficiently and systematically — with a direct impact on data quality.

Axiom - making complex data understandable

Axiom?
An axiom, postulate, or assumption is a statement considered to be true and used as a starting point for reasoning. The word comes from the Ancient Greek axíōma, meaning “that which is regarded as valuable or evident.”
A classic example is the parallel postulate: a principle that applies on a flat, Euclidean plane but not on curved geometries such as a sphere.
It illustrates a core idea behind the name Axiom: truths depend on context, and strong results start with clearly defined assumptions.
